To be a Trappist beer, it must be brewed under the control of Trappist monks, in compliance with the criteria defined by the International Trappist Association. It is exclusively under these conditions that it may then display the Authentic Trappist Product logo.
Zundert from Maria-Toevlucht Abbey is one of the eleven Trappist beers, and one of two present in the Netherlands with La Trappe.
Amber and hazy with a thick off-white head, Trappist Zundert has aromas of malt, caramel, pal malt, yeast and fruit.

Floral hoppy finish, lingering ripe fruit yet something dry-yeasty too to balance things out; rather boozy rum-like alcohol in the very end. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Blanche Des Honnelles was brewed for the first time in 1991 at a very local level, but has since then crossed the shores of the river from whom it got its name.
