Cardeña is the first Trappist beer made in Spain for the Abbey of San Pedro de Cardeña (Burgos), one of the oldest monasteries in Spain whose existence has been attested since the 9th century.
Made by hand with a careful selection of barley malt, hops, yeast and water, with a second fermentation in the bottle, following the centuries-old tradition of Trappist master brewers.
Cardeña is a light amber beer with abundant head of foam, fine aroma, fruity and herbal flavor with a long and slightly dry finish.
Pours hazy amber with medium white head. Aroma is fruits, berries, caramel, black currant, plums, some herbs, light sweetness, fruits. Taste is fruity, black currant, red wine, oak, blackberry, red grapes, some yeast, berry juice, light bitterness, home wine. Very nice beer!
