There are many beers with different characters, whether due to their flavour, level of alcohol, region of production, colour, etc. One might think that the belong to no category. In reality, there are all placed in a category know as " Belgian Specials" , a bit of a catch-all, but distinguished by the fact that these beers are found only in Belgium.

Hercule Stout 9°, from Brasserie des Légendes ( Ellezelloise) , is made in small batches, then lagered for ten days in German oak casks. 
 "The Hercule is considered by many to be a classic – very malty, but dry, with a hint of sweetness in the finish, and perfectly hopped. It has a very distinctive and intoxicating spicy aroma of fresh spruce that suddenly, irresistibly, fills the room when the swing-top is released. This unique house character probably derives from the strains of yeast used by the brewery – and possibly from the fermentation in oak – because the beers are made entirely of malt and hops, without any spices or sugar."

There are also many flavored beers with chocolate such as Young's Double Chocolate Stout. The Floris Chocolat presents in the glass a brown dress surmounted by a collar of light brown foam. Once out of the bottle, it brings to the nose aromas of chocolate accompanied by vanilla spikes. In the mouth, chocolate dominates the appetizer before vanilla, coriander and wheat appear. This chocolate Floris develops no bitterness which should delight sweet mouths.
