There are many beers with different characters, whether due to their flavour, level of alcohol, region of production, colour, etc. One might think that the belong to no category. In reality, there are all placed in a category know as " Belgian Specials" , a bit of a catch-all, but distinguished by the fact that these beers are found only in Belgium.
"Gruut" was a spice mixture used in the Middle Ages to flavor the light beer. The herbal mixture contained oat sage, trout, yarrow, rosemary, gale, pine needles and dead nettle. Hops were introduced later by the German monks and as a result the herbs disappeared.
For the Wittoen we do it the other way around and we replace the hops again with a number of old-fashioned herbs . In the end we obtain a subtly flavoured, amber colored beer . Definitely taste it!
The answer of the brewers to the newest hype within the IPA-style. Hazy, tropical and full of aroma as a New England IPA should be. A pleasant tickle for the tongue on hot days.
Brewed at 't Verzet brewery, Verzet Golden Tricky 7.5° - deliveredworldwide - is a "single-hop" beer: only one hops has been used during three different phases of the brewing process, namely the Australian Ella hops, which is the basis of the exotic fruit aroma. Despite this fruity aroma, the beer is not sweet because of the strong bitterness of the finish that completes it.
Triple d'Anvers 8°, brewed by Brouwerij De Koninck (Duvel-Moortgat), and delivered worldwide, is a top-fermented Belgian beer . In the glass it shows an amber colour tending towards blonde, capped with an attractive white head. From this white crown, the nose picks up aromas of yeast and hops with fruity notes of apples and of lightly toasted malt. The initial impression on the palate is slightly sugary with a good balance between the bitterness of the hops and a fruity freshness.
Brewed at Omer Vander Ginste brewery, Tripel LeFort is a golden blonde beer of 8.8% ABV and sets itself apart through its crisp, fruity aroma and beautifully rounded full flavour. The top-fermenting yeast used for Tripel LeFort results in a beer with vanilla-clove aromas as well as a fruity taste of bananas and red apples. Pleasant hints of citrus, lime and roses make this into a balanced beer that is intriguingly complex at the same time.
Super des Fagnes Bruin 7.5° is produced by brewery Des Fagnes. This beer is delivered worldwide. With aromas of red fruits and slightly caramelized malts, the Brown Fagnes are sweet and unctuous.

Brewed by the De Proefbrouwerij brewery for brewery Slaapmutske, this beer (GLUTEN FREE) is a dark brown beer of top-fermentation with refermentation in the bottle. This beer of 7,4 Vol%, brewed with different colour malts and aromatic hops, is deglutinized during lagering.
The mouthfeeling is very malty and goves a warm softness. The refermentation provides a fine and creamy foam that sticks to the glass.
Scotch Silly 8°is brewed by Silly brewery, and is delivered worldwide. Silly Scotch was born from a unique tradition and, throughout the years, has grown into a reference beer for its particular style. Its lovely red colour with more than a hint of copper is hidden below a beige head. Its complex aromas breathe the scent of brioche accompanied by raisins, fruit jam and fresh raspberry. This is a generous, full-mouthed beer reminiscent of a liqueur. The initial, most striking impressions are those of honey and caramel. Egmont's Lamoral Beer then reveals a beautiful roundness of malt on the palate, followed by a light bitterness. The malty flavors of grains and cereals take over at the end of the mouth and ensure a soft and consensual finish. In addition, the good effervescence of this beer makes it particularly digestible.
