The love for family and art is a most important pillar at Brewery De Leite. The father of brewer Luc was the 7th child in a family of 9. The friendship between the 8th in row, uncle Pol, and nephew Luc is deep. Cuvée Oncle Pol is dedicated to him. When introducing the beer, the brewer had conspired with the children of his uncle to give him a big surprise. They arrived with their father at the brewery ‘just to taste a beer’. At that moment, the brewer could proudly and happily present his dear uncle with the first bottle of this new beer.

Liefmans Goudenband is one of the most distinctive dark beers in the world. Originally called IJzerenband (Iron Band) – a reference to the iron bands around the beer barrels – the bottle gained its champagne cork when it was renamed Liefmans Goudenband (Gold Band). Made in open vats with beer of mixed fermentation, it is left to mature for four to 12 months in the cellar. Mature beer is then fortified with younger beer, so the fermentation process starts up again.

It is a fruity sweet beer with a pleasant fresh taste. "Duchesse de Bourgogne" is brewed with deeply roasted malts and bitter hops. After the main fermentation and secondary fermentation, the "Duchesse de Bougogne" matures for several months in tapered tanks. The tannins in the oak wood give the "Duchess of Burgundy" its fruity character. In the past, raspberry lambic beer was rare, because it was produced only a few weeks per year, i.e. in summer. Frank Boon was the first to brew a raspberry lambic again in 1976. With a quantity of 300g of raspberries per liter, the Framboise Boon gets its fresh and fruity taste without being to dominant. No artificial flavours are used in this beer, which has to be tasted at a young age and which contains 5% of alcohol.

To produce its Kriek, the Boon brewery uses its ancestral recipe. Kriek Boon is a mixture of young and old lambic, matured in oak barrels. After six months of waiting, fresh cherries are added. After clarification and filtration, the beer is finally bottled, after which it is sold.
This Belgian beer has a beautiful ruby colour covered by a pretty coloured foam. The uncompromising nose, powerfully evokes the cherry. On the palate, this same cherry flavour takes over the rest, magnified by a slight acidity. The aftertaste is bitter end even brings a little more complexity to the beer. A Kriek like no other.

The aroma shows notes of sour dark cherries, earthy must, farmhouse yeast, barnyard funk, some lemon acidity, and notes of old, wet wood that lends a touch of oaky vanilla to balance out tartness and acidity.
