Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor, from Het Anker brewery and delivered worldwide, completes the taste palate of the Gouden Carolus beers. “Hopsinjoor” derived from “Opsinjoor”, the typical character of Mechelen and also because of the use of 5 different kinds of hops. These hops are fractioned at a different time during the cooking process in order to conserve a maximum of aroma.
Concerning the taste, the Ale has a gentle taste with a slightly bitter finish. Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor was launched in 2008 on the Zythos Beer Festival and hit the mark: the visitors elected it as best beer, bringing Het Anker “The Consumer’s trophy Zythos Beer Festival 2008”.
The beer is bottled unfiltered in order to preserve the bitterness of the hop as much as possible.

So the people of Mechelen drunk "den Mechelschen Bruynen". Mechelen, at that time capital of the Netherlands, had her brewer's guild and the members were on their honor to brew the best beer for the Emperor. An old chronicle of Mechelen reports that this Grand Imperial Beer, "Gouden Carolus" named after the golden coins of Emperor Charles, was mainly consumed during the foxhound "since both the riders and the horses were brought in full fire and made them gallop in order for the hunt always developed in the best atmosphere".

Achel Blonde is one of the few Trappist beers in the world and is brewed in the monastery of Notre-Dame of Saint-Benoît in Belgium. In order to get the name “trappist”, the beer must be brewed within an abbey under the supervision of the monastic community with a Cistercian tradition. This Trappist beer, brewed at the Sint-Sixtus Abbey is delivered worldwide.It pours very dark brown with big off-white head. Settles as 3 cm thick blanker of fluffy foam. Substantial lacing. Aroma is a little subdued due to the massive amount of foam. But it gets stronger as the beer warms up. Aroma is sweetish with caramel, sugar, lightly roasted malts, humid cellar and damp old newspapers. Medium carbonation. Medium thick texture. Flavor is (only) medium sweet. Followed by a quite strong bitterness with an acidic hint. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingering. Always hard to form an opinion on such a celebrity beer.
