There are many beers with different characters, whether due to their flavour, level of alcohol, region of production, colour, etc. One might think that the belong to no category. In reality, there are all placed in a category know as " Belgian Specials" , a bit of a catch-all, but distinguished by the fact that these beers are found only in Belgium.
"Combines the best of two worlds: the sweet aftertaste of a dark beer with the high hops and light finish of an IPA." This beer shares its high hopping and high alcohol DNA with its paler IPA sibling, but like a stout or a porter, it gets its darker colour from roasted and dark malted barley, which also deepens the flavours a bit. It’s rich, hoppy and a bit sweet but still light on its feet.
In April 2016, the brewers created 4 new prototypes (Red, Yellow, Mauve and Green) - all those 4 prototypes were Session ales at 4.7% ABV but all had a lot of punch! They organized 11 private tastings in the best cafés, restaurants of Brussels, 1 private tasting in Tokyo as well as a great Final Tasting Event gathering over 2,000 beer lovers at Halles St Géry, Brussels!
Inspired by Mesopotamian civilization - 7,000 years ago - and their fermented bread, the brewers worked over 1 year in development to go back to the future and collide the "old world" with the "new world" !
Brewed at the De Ranke brewery, the brewery has developed this export porter, the Back to Black on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the famous establishment "Moeder Lambic" in Brussels in 2016.
The Brusseleir beer is brewed at the La Senne brewery and delivered worldwide. Pours black, medium beige head and nice lacing. Standard aroma of roasted malts and fruity hops. Standard taste of roasted malts, lemon and fruity hops, booze well hidden. Crescendo of herbal bitterness. Standard body, medium carbonation, bitter finish.
