From Abbaye des Rocs brewery, this beer has a very dark colour and has a very complex but very powerful aroma and the hops and spices that are in it, make it even more powerful. Despite its density, the beer is digested quite easily.
Pours a real dark amber colour with lots of sediments. Frothy off-white head with good retention and thick creamy lace. Strong waft of caramelised strawberry in the fruity aroma. Thick creamy mouthfeel and superb lacing. Dark complex malts in this with sweet fruitloaf base laden with candied fruits with strawberry to the fore, along with dark plums and fig. Finish is very malty and laden with stone fruit and rosehip syrup, alcohol is superbly hidden but the warmth does kick in later on. Complex and delicious.
