Grimbergen Blond 6.7° - delivery worldwide - this beer is produced by Alken-Maes. Originally, the Grimbergen was brewed by the monks in the Abbaye de Grimbergen for centuries; the recipe is actually more than 900 years old! This beer is relatively basic but has been a reference product in terms of widely-consumed Belgian beers for years. It pours a clear gold colour topped by a rich and dense head in cream colour. The beer challenges the nose with malty and relatively fruity aromas with hints reminiscent of spices such as cloves.
Brewed under licence by Alken-Maes for the Grimbergen abbey. This is a strong blond beer, with a yeasty softness to the palate reminiscent of trappist beers and a tenacious, frothy head. It has a slightly hoppy aroma, which is less pronounced in the taste. Glowing golden dark yellow with a small film of white lacing floating on the top. Sweet lemon wheat nose with some fuesal corn notes hidden behind an oversweet nutty banana aroma. The feel on the mouth is a semi-thick rush of tingling yeast, bananas and bread crust, and a sweet lemon, banana and vanilla yogurt flavor. Finish is spicy and sticky.
