Engelszell Benno Trappistenbier 6.9°-1/3L
This belgian ale is the second beer brewed by the eighth Trappist brewery Stift Engelszell.
Its light amber color is topped with an imposing white foam. The nose is reminiscent of its big sister, the Engelszell Gregorius with its aromas of honey and its sweet fruity touches. The toasted malt gives a subtle but interesting smoky side.
The palate is more floral, dominated by malt and yeast, and reveals a beer with character. The whole is underlined by light fruity touches which soften the powerful aromas of Austrian Trappist.
A beer with a strong but controlled character which proves the know-how of the monks of the Abbey of Stift Engelszell.

Pours clear light copper with a foamy beige head. Aroma is lightly bready with arguably herbal hop. A little earthy, with some Belgian yeast/spice/ester. Med body. Flavor is fairly spicy. Some hard to identify fruit ester. It’s earthy and dry in the finish. Pretty nice drink.
