An American soldier, Vince Speranza, reportedly filled his helmet with beer to bring a drink to his wounded friend in a church that was serving as a makeshift hospital. Years later, upon returning to Bastogne, Speranza discovered that a beer had been created in his honor and was even served in replica World War II helmets.
