Scheldebrouwerij Hop Ruiter 8.5° is a classic tripel enriched with a complex hoppiness and hints of tropical fruits. The explosive Hop Ruiter tames Belgian yeast and overseas hops to a particularly aromatic tripel. Adding aroma hops during the lagering makes this beer a complex tripel that constantly surprises.
Hop Ruiter (Hop Rider) has a full, almost rustic malt body, and pairs Belgian yeast-driven flavors with American assertive hoppiness. It is dry hopped, with two noble varieties which add complexity, delicacy and a bit of funk. Orange with golden hue, frothy head, bit murky, gentle carbonation. Aroma is very fruity and hoppy, with pineapple, pine, lemon. Faintest hint of carrot juice. Reminds of ipa, but it's not that harsh. Taste starts fruity again, with notes of exotic fruit. Develops a fruity, doughy bitterness, with a distinct boozy sensation. Really a great example of the style, worth seeking out.
