De Koninck Wild Jo 5.8° - 1/3L - delivery worldwide - Based in the Belgian city of Anvers, De Koninck is responsible for the creation of this excellent Belgian Sour/Wild Ale-style beer, Wild Jo. Taking its name from Joseph Van de Bogaert, who founded the brewery after the First World War, Wild Jo pours an attractive hazy gold, dominated by a generous foamy white head, the bouquet is full of earthy notes with zesty lemons, straw, and wild yeast in spades.
Bright golden yellow colour on the body, only a bit cloudy, with a small white head on top, with good density and average retention. Pretty weak aroma of pink grapefruit, wet leather, minerals, unripe plum, grass, hint of caramel, green apple, jute and white pepper. Crisp fruity taste but a bit subdued, light on the tongue with medium carbo, smooth, apple peel and peach accents, grainy, bit sourish but very softly so, leathery Brett touch in the finish but gentle, dryish finish, bit yeasty with some grassy hop bitterishness. Would be interesting to cellar for a year and see how it develops.
