From the De Halvemaan brewery. Straffe Hendrik Heritage is a Special Edition autumn beer brewed by the De Haalve Maan brewery. It is a special version of the classic Straffe Hendrik Quadrupel, which is matured for at least one year in Bordeaux wine casks. The technique allows the the aroma and taste to develop, and allows this already superb beer to improve further in the bottle.
Pouring deep mahogany with red highlights under a generous tan-coloured head, the sumptuous bouquet releases waves of black cherry, plum, raisins, and bread, with a conspicuous alcohol note.
On the tongue this profile is faithfully reproduced, with more chewy, jammy flavours, offset by a sharpness, and oaky notes. The finish is well-balanced, with a light bitterness and subtle oaky wine touches.
Straffe Hendrik Heritage is best tasted at 8°. It can be kept for several years, to give it more of a Port Wine character.
