Leffe Vieille Cuvée, produced by AB-Inbev, is delivered worldwide. It's a creamy, aromatic beer that pours amber with ruby highlights, capped by a generous off-white head.
The nose is awash with malt, fruit, spices, caramel, and an attractive alcohol note. This profile is found on the palate, with dried fruit, yeast, malt, caramel and spices, with a medium body, slick texture, and moderate carbonation.
Pours a clear, dark chestnut, with floating yeast and a huge pillowy white head. This lasts well, and leaves behind ample lace. The aroma is a bit muted, but there are some sweet nutty notes, a hint of buttered toast and a yeasty dough note in there. It starts off much more hoppy than most Belgian beers, with a bitter herbal and citrus taste. This melds seamlessly with some espresso malt coming in towards the middle and a complex finish, which blends smoother malt notes with pine hops. Quite different to many others of the style, and a nice ale indeed.
