Since 1979 the Abbaye des Rocs Grand Cru beer has been brewed in the Belgian city of Montignies-sur-Roc. It is a pure malt stout beer and contains 9% alcohol. All tastes are the result of the double fermentation, 7 specific dosages of malt as well as mixtures of Belgian, German and Czech hops.
The beer has a dark majestic ruby colour and has a rich and refined taste. It develops a powerful aroma of sweet overtones. It is a deep, mysterious and extremely mature beer and it is certainly one of the best dark Belgian beers.
Abbaye des Rocs Grand Cru has a rich, complex fruit aroma of cherries, golden raisins, peaches, and assorted dried fruit, laced with honey and caramel. Smooth, rich flavors reminiscent of cherries dipped in caramel, finishing with notes of dried chocolate, roasted almonds, and a hint of molasses.
