St. Lutgarde (1182-1246), patron saint of Flanders, dedicated her life to religion in silence and fasting. She was a mystical saint of the Christendom. At the age of 17, she had an apparition, convincing her to become a nun. As she later refused to be at the head of the Abbey of Tongeren, she decided to join the Abbey of Aywiers to live the rest of her life in prayer and humility.

Brouwerij De Plukker was founded in 2011 by Joris Cambie and Kris Langouche
Back in 2011 organic hop farmer Joris Cambie and brewer Kris Langouche decided to join forces. The Cambie family had been growing hops in the Poperinge fields for several generations by then and switched over to organic farming in 1997. Ample justification for Joris and Kris to launch a traditional-style brewery together on the basis of Joris’ hopmaking business.

26 Route de Nismes 5660 Mariembourg http://www.brasseriedesfagnes.be/ There is a very nice place in Belgium, housing a brewery built in the 18th century, an active modern brewery and a grand degustation hall where you can try locally produced beers. This place is the town of Mariembourg and the brewery in operation is Brasserie des Fagnes. One of the beers you can taste on site is La Super des Fagnes. This is a high-fermentation beer with alcohol volume of 7.75%. As La Super des Fagnes is not pasteurized and is refermented in the bottle, its taste develops over time under the influence of the storage temperature. The brewery recommends it to be stored and served at the temperature of 6 – 10 C°. La Super des Fagnes tastes best after one year of storage, its alcohol content amounting to 8.2%. Brasserie des Fagnes advises to drink their La Super beer from specially designed glasses in order to fully enjoy its finely balanced coriander and licorice aroma.

Fort Lapin Brewery is an authentic, craft brewery just north of the city centre of Bruges. The name is taken from the place where it is actually located. Originally, Fort Lapin was a fortress built in 1664 to protect Bruges’ commercial hub. The brewery was founded in late 2011 by Kristof Vandenbussche who is also the head brewer. After years of experimenting, we decided to share our creations with the public at large. With growing success.

Itterplein 19 3690 Opitter-Bree http://www.brouwerijsintjozef.be The main feature of any brewery is always the brewhouse, with its very prominent three large copper vessels. That is the heart of the brewery and where the brewing starts. During the eight-hour long brewing process all raw materials are mixed with great care. First clean water enters the masher, immediately followed by malted grain, and high-protein wheat for white beer. By steam heating this mixture the brewer obtains a high-sugar extract.

The Verbeeck - Back brewery has been around since the end of the 19th century, when it became one of the most beloved independent breweries in Belgium's northern region.
The brewery was, is and remains a family business: no monks or large companies in sight. The secrets of his successes were passed on from father to son until they became fathers themselves… and so on. However, the sons of the sixties generation had other plans. In 1966 the brewery dozed off for a short nap.

Betekomsesteenweg 76 3200 Aarschot, Belgium www.brouwerijlupus.be The story of our brewery started in 2003. Peter Van der Borght decided to follow his dream and start brewing his own beer. After a while, he was joined by three friends. On May 13th 2008 Peter Van der Borght, Luc Sempels, Jo Discart and Paul Van der Borght founded Brewery Wolf Belgium. Shortly after, Bart Maryssael joined the group. Over the years, Paul, Luc and Jo decided to go their own way and so, today, Peter and Bart are the team behind the brewery.
